Dr. Nikki Mazzaschi
Dr. Nikki Mazzaschi grew up in Laconia, New Hampshire and received her B.S. in biology and animal behavior at the University of New Hampshire. After graduation, she worked as a veterinary technician for a few years- where she discovered her passion for veterinary medicine. In 2014, Dr. Mazzaschi received her DVM from Tufts Cummings School of Veterinary Medicine. Areas of professional interest include internal medicine, animal behavior and all things feline 🙂
Dr. Mazzaschi and Dr. Katz established Healthy Pets Veterinary Care with the fundamental goal not only to care for animals, but also the people the love them.
Dr. Mazzaschi shares her home with Dr. Katz, an Old English Sheepdog named Max and two handsome cats, Brady and Randy. In her free time, Dr. Mazzaschi and Max volunteer at local libraries helping young children learn to read through the R.E.A.D Program (Reading Education Assistance Dogs). She spends the rest of her free time gardening, sewing and traveling.
Dr. Jay Katz
Dr. Jay Katz is the proud owner of an Old English Sheep Dog named Max as well as Healthy Pets Veterinary Care. Dr. Katz excels at working with dogs and cats – but loves seeing “pocket pets” and other exotics as well. He has a special interest in surgery, dermatology, pain management and senior care.
Dr. Katz received his Doctor of Veterinary Medicine from Tufts in 2013. Prior to veterinary school, Dr. Katz studied Philosophy, Religion and Art History at Boston University. After college, Dr. Katz’s near‐pathologic desire to pet every dog he sees drove him into veterinary medicine. In his spare time Dr. Katz enjoys traveling, yoga on the beach, basketball, soccer, scuba diving, enjoying the Florida sunshine and no longer having New England winter’s in his life.
Our Veterinary Team
Hi, I'm Melissa and I was born in West Palm Beach but was raised in Muncie, Indiana. I went to the Vet Tech Institute in Indianapolis and graduated with a degree in Veterinary Technology in November of 2014. I moved back to my hometown and became a certified veterinary technician in the state of Florida in March of 2015. I have experience with small animal, exotic, and large animal medicine. I have two senior rescue fur children, Danzig and Annie, and a bearded dragon, Harvey Dent. In my free time I love to go to the beach, the movies, and volunteer with animal rescue organizations.
Dawn is our client service manager. She has been at our hospital since 2000. Dawn works hard to give all our clients the personal attention they need in order to better the healthcare of their pets. In her spare time she enjoys spending time with her three dogs - Dolly Jean, Armani, Gizmo, and her cat, Cha Che.
Pat has worked as a veterinary technician for over 25 years now and continues to enjoy helping animals. She has a very special way with them and was pleased to join our staff in 2009. Pat came to Florida in 1982 with her husband. They have been together for 35 years. Their cat Zippy, who unfortunately had his leg amputated at 8 weeks, remains a welcome addition to their family.
Esther has been in the veterinary industry for over 10 years and is going on her fourth year with us as a Patient Care Advocate. She is originally from North Carolina, but has lived in Florida most of her life. Her interests lay with her family which includes her husband of 25 years and their identical twin daughters. Her granddaughter, Emily, is the newest addition to their family. She has her "golden child" at home, Bugs, her cocker spaniel and Precious, a beagle. Esther helps make up our great team here at Northlake Animal Hospital.
